    Join NOLS Art Director, Eryn Pierce, in this introduction to graphic design. Students will learn the principles of design, typography, and create their own poster.     320 Clay Open Studio

    Potters and Clay Artists are welcome to join the Lander Art Center clay open studio program at 320 Studio. We have 5 potters’ wheels, a slab roller, a pug mill and lots of table space. We have a kiln that fires to cone 6. We sell clay in 25 lb bags. The 320 Clay Studio is available to past LAC clay class participants, people who have taken the Beginner Orientation, or experienced potters.

    Heavy Bezel Ring Workshop

    Saturday, February 2

    Time: 9am - 5pm (with break for lunch)

    Instructor: Lennie Poitras

    Location: 320 Studio, 320 Main Street

    Cost: $60

    Material Fee: $30 material fee + price of stone ($5-$50) paid to instructor

    Learn basic silversmithing skills in this one day class where students will construct a ring with a large stone held in place with a heavy weight bezel wire. The ring band will be a double thickness cut-out motif. The instructor will have an array of stones available for purchase or you can bring your own (be aware that not all stones are suitable for this project). The student will go home with a new ring and a new skill set of sawing, filing, soldering, stone setting and polishing.

    Encaustic Painting

    $75 fee includes all materials

    Encaustic painting is the process of using melted and pigmented beeswax to create exciting, luminous paintings. This workshop covers the necessary tools, workspace setup, composition, image transfers and carving in wax. Previous encaustic students will build and refine their skills in this class. Students will build confidence with a new medium and have the opportunity to complete two paintings.

    Experience a new creative adventure.  Learn how to use silver metal clay to create unique and beautiful earrings, pendants, rings, and more during this weekend workshop.  This malleable, clay-like material, consisting of a powdered silver in an organic binder, can be molded, sculpted, extruded, textured, or stamped into any desired shape and when fired results in a pure silver object.
