Instructor:  Carolyn McIntyre retuns to teach this popular class using melted wax to paint and texture.

Each of these classes will present basic encaustic techniques. Sutdents familiar with medium and tools will learn more advanced methods and materials. For a more thorough encaustic experience, both classes are advised.

The word “encaustic” comes from Greek and means to “burn in” which refers to the process of fusing the paint/wax to a paper or fabric surface. In this class the student will learn the process of applying wax to paper and “painting” a picture, using a hot iron and crayons.  In parts of Europe encaustic is used as a therapy to reduce personal stress and depression.
