Introduction to Plein Air oil painting (landscapes)
Dates: Thursday and Friday June 10th and 11th
Time: Thursday: 7pm-9pm
Friday: 8 am- at least 12 pm

Location: Lander Art Center (258 Main Street), Thursday. Friday will take place in sinks canyon (near the fishing access, look for the faded orange tank)
Join professional plein air oil painting artist, David Zenger for this introductory class. Students will learn the basic equipment and how to use it in plein air oil painting. David will cover the concepts of plein air and compositional and color issues. On Thursday, David will introduce students to the concepts and basic techniques used for oils and plein air painting in the classroom at the Lander Art Center. On Friday, David will meet students in Sinks Canyon at 8am for some hands-on painting. He will cover set-up, organization of a picture, blocking in and finishing. This class is the ultimate introduction for anyone wanting to get into oil painting or plein air.
* On Friday, this class will take place outdoors, in sinks canyon. Please dress accordingly for the day's weather. We recommend, a jacket, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, bug spray, water-bottles (keep in mind to bring plenty of water with you), snacks, and a sack lunch. Masks will be required for the in-person portion of the class on Thursday.

Have you always wanted to learn how to draw, but were nervous to start? This is the class for you! Art teacher Chrissy Pruett will guide students through basic drawing techniques. We will learn to draw from observation as we use different drawing tools and techniques.
The best part of this class, is we are offering it both in person and virtually for those who wish to social distance! The class will take place in-person and live stream over zoom for our online participants. If you participate online, you will be given a packet with supplies and a link to the class. The online portion will take place at the same time as the in-person class.
