Dye/Weave 2-Day Workshop with Korinne Ryan

Class Description:

Join artist Korinne Ryan for a creative journey into the world of textile art with our two-part workshop at the Lander Art Center. Dive into the techniques of fiber dyeing with procion mx dyes and weaving to tell personal stories through textiles, drawing inspiration from Korinne's exhibition "Look at Me! Don’t Look at Me!".

Class 1: Dye Fiber

  • I do: Korinne introduces the procion dye process, techniques, and uses.

  • We do: Prepare fibers for pre-soak and dyeing. Practice dyeing on communal fabric.

  • You do: Dye your own fabric and fibers using a personal story as inspiration.

Post-class, Korinne will cure and wash the fibers with textile detergent.

Class 2: Reveal & Use Fiber

  • Reveal dye results and communal sharing.

  • Prepare fibers for weaving, rope wrapping, sewing

  • Activity: Start a new project using your dyed fibers. We will be focusing on weaving. Other options for your dyed fabric/fiber include sewing (at home), rope wrapping, and anything else you can think of!

  • Stay & commune (hopefully sharing stories) as we start a final product with the dyed fibers

This workshop invites participants to embed their personal stories into their creations, offering a space for expression and connection through the art of textile. Join us to explore your narrative through colors and textures!
