Membership

Membership is the simplest way to be part of the Lander Art Center, and it's the support we can count on most. Questions about membership go to director@landerartcenter.com. Questions about the clay studio go to education@landerartcenter.com.

LAC works from five principles: inclusion, agency, potential, curiosity, and generosity. Some members practice them here every week, in the clay studio on a Tuesday, at an exhibition opening, or at an artist market. Some haven't taken a class in years and keep a membership because they know what making things does for a person, and what an art center does for a town. What you pay goes straight into the work. It pays teachers and fires kilns, and it keeps a community art center steady between grant cycles. It's not a donation you make to LAC, but a share in it.

Every membership comes with a place in the Members Show (entry fee included), the members preview at Art in the Afternoon, and LAC's email and mail. A household membership covers two adults and every child under 18 at one address, and each of them gets the same.

Pick the level that fits how you take part. Memberships renew on their own, and you can change or cancel yours any time.

Already a member

  • You don't need to rejoin. Your membership has already moved to our new registration system.
  • Watch for an email or text from LAC asking you to add a payment method. Adding one keeps your membership active.
  • What you prepaid is honored to the day. Nothing is charged before your current term ends, and annual stays annual, monthly stays monthly.
  • If your price changes, it changes at your own renewal date. Clay Studio members move to $60 a month on January 1, 2027.

Household covers two adults and every child under 18 at one address.

Paying by the year saves $12 on Individual and $24 on Household. At checkout these are listed as LAC Standard Membership.

Clay Studio Membership

$50a month, one person, age 16 and up

A shelf of your own in the LAC clay studio, and the run of the place. Clay Studio members have their own door code and studio access from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, seven days a week, which covers every open studio hour and a good deal more.

The price moves to $60 a month on January 1, 2027, and members will hear from us well before then.

You'll sign the Clay Studio waiver and the shelf agreement in person at LAC. That's when you get your door code and a spot in the studio's WhatsApp group.

If you're new to the studio, start with a Wednesday evening Skill Building and Orientation session for a tour and a chance to meet the people you'll share the space with.

Art Studio Membership

$60a month, one person, age 16 and up

The studio membership for artists working in anything other than clay.

Signups are open now. Memberships start November 1.

  • Hours. Tuesday to Friday, 2 to 7 PM, and Saturday, 10 AM to 4 PM, with staff in the building, whenever no class is booked in the space. We're working toward 6 AM to 10 PM.
  • Storage. A cubby of your own, and space for work to rest or dry.
  • Tools and supplies. Every studio tool, plus everyday supplies: paint, charcoal, and student-grade paper. We're still working out premium materials.
  • Class students. Open studio time is free during your course dates.

Access

If there's something that would make the studio work better for you, just ask. Large print handouts, seating that works for you, materials in Spanish or another language, a demonstration you can feel rather than watch, or something we haven't thought of yet.
