Open Clay Studio shelf renters are welcome to access the studio during all open non-class hours, and at specified Shelf Renter Studio times. A Clay Studio orientation class is required for all participants before getting their hands dirty. This allows you to learn the house rules, roles, and responsibilities, ask questions, understand where the tools are, and what supplies and equipment are and aren’t available for use.

Everyone is welcome at LAC Open Clay Studio!

We have 7 potters’ wheels, a slab roller, coil extruder, a pug mill, throwing and sculpting tools, and lots of table space. You can purchase your very own block of clay or utilize our recycled community clay, included with every session. Whether you are a beginner or experienced clay artist, the LAC clay studio is sure to be a good time!

A volunteer facilitator will be available to answer all questions on Wednesdays from 5-7, and all firings will be taken care of by our Clay Studio team.

    This digital punch pass gets you five Open Clay Studio drop-ins. Regular Open Clay Studio drop-ins are $15. With an LAC Open Clay Studio Punch Pass you get 5 punches for $60.

  • Rent a shelf.

    Shelf rental in our Open Clay Studio is by far the best deal in town.

    Shelf Rental Includes:

    - Unlimited access to LAC’s Open Clay Studio

    - One large shelf to store your work, clay, tools, etc. (you may still use studio tools)

    - Your work will be fired on the Open Clay Studio schedule, unless you book a private firing

    - A 20% discount on clay purchased through the LAC ($20 instead of $25)

    - A Trout-level LAC membership, worth $5 per month, which includes:

    A punch pass is $60 for 5 passes. That is the equivalent of $12 per visit. If you rent shelf space and come only 5 times in a month, you’ll pay $10 per visit!
